LYNN VAUGHT CLOSES DEAL WITH LAWYERS LAND & TITLE SERVICES, LLC.

March 31st, 2010 -

March 31, 2010 – MURFREESBORO, TENN. – Lynn Vaught has one finger, if not all ten, on the pulse of Murfreesboro’s commercial and residential real estate market. Vaught is the closing agent at the newly launched Lawyers Land & Title Services, LLC, a subsidiary of Murfreesboro law firm, Kious, Rodgers, Barger, Holder & Kious, PLLC.

With thirty years of experience in real estate and banking, Vaught has experienced a lot of the ebbs and flows of Rutherford County’s real estate history.

“Lynn has the experience we need to make Lawyers Land & Title Services, LLC.† a success,” said founder David Kious. “We purposely started LL&TS in one of the worst real estate markets in history. With Lynn’s guidance we will grow with the economy and ultimately be Rutherford County’s choice closing company.”

A 1979 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, Lynn is a Murfreesboro native.

“I like being part of this community,” explains Vaught. “So many companies are selling out to entities that don’t understand Murfreesboro – they use a one-size-fits-all approach. I chose to work with David and the rest of the team at Lawyers Land & Title Services because I can focus on serving local needs, working with local businesses.”

Vaught began her career as a closing agent for Cavalry Bank (now Pinnacle Bank) and most recently served an executive role at Southern Title.

Like many in this community, Vaught is focused on her family. She lives with her husband on a working farm in Murfreesboro. She has three grown children and several nieces and nephews who act as surrogate grandchildren.

While not a trained historian, she enjoys learning about her family’s history in the community and the history of other families from the region. She feels her office in the historic John Spence House is fitting to her strong ties with Murfreesboro.

About Lawyers Land & Title Services, LLC

The lawyers and closing agents at Lawyers Land & Title Services have more than 75 years of combined experience in commercial and residential real estate closings. Based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, one of the fastest growing communities in the country, LL&TS understands the unique real estate needs of Middle Tennesseans. Lawyers Land & Title Services, LLC provides professional title, closing and escrow services.† They can be found on the web at lawyerslandandtitle.com

January 11th, 2010 – LAW FIRM EXPANDS ON REAL ESTATE OFFERINGS WITH OPENING OF COMPANY

MURFREESBORO†† January 11, 2010†† Congress has passed countless new regulations that have turned the real estate industry on its head.

November 20th, 2009 – Nearing the end of his second term on the Rutherford County Commission, Murfreesboro attorney John Rodgers remains in the thick of the action, even though he will not seek re-election in 2010 for a third term.A longtime member of the commission’s Health and Education Committee, he is proud of the progress the county’s school system has made over the last seven years.

“We’ve built a number of schools in that time, and we consistently receive excellent reports from the state on meeting federal and state guidelines on the way we educate our kids,” Rodgers said.

And as chairman of the commission’s, Steering, Legislative and Governmental Affairs Committee, Rodgers is a key figure in developing an in-house legal department. He sat down last week with The DNJ to discuss commission matters.

Q: The County Commission is going through the process of creating an in-house legal department after years of contracting with Jim Cope and his office. Why do you feel that change is necessary?

Rodgers: The process of transitioning to in-house legal services started about two years ago when we renewed Jim’s contract then, and there was a desire on the part of the full commission and certainly on the part of the steering committee to look at the way legal services are provided to us. At that time, we formed the subcommittee to gather information, look at how much we were paying, what the county attorney was responsible for, and bring forward some recommendation to the steering committee to look at.

Over two years, off and on, more so here in the last six months than before, we were gathering that information and looking at the cost versus benefit. I think it started to become clear that in-house was certainly going to be an option for us, and there were many reasons that was going to be option for us, maybe even a preferred option.
We are really excited about the prospect of having someone that is solely dedicated to the business of Rutherford County. When the county was smaller, a part-time county attorney made sense, but now the county has enough legal business to keep not just one county attorney busy full time, but more than that. So it’s simply time to put people in place that are dedicated to the county, that we’re not competing for time with (other clients), so that was a pretty compelling.

Growth, and New Name, Offers Opportunities for Law Firm

September 21st, 2009 – The Murfreesboro law firm of Kious & Rodgers, PLLC recently announced a change to the firm’s name to recognize the contributions of partners, Jay Barger, Chris Holder and J. D. Kious, to the North Maple Street practice.† Kious & Rodgers, PLLC is now Kious, Rodgers, Barger, Holder & Kious, PLLC.

The firm’s founding partners, David W. Kious and John W. Rodgers, started the firm in 1997 with a vision of building the best law firm in Rutherford County. “We believed by delivering high quality legal services at a reasonable price, the firm would grow as its reputation grew, and in time we would need to add partners and associates in response to an increasing and diverse client base,” Rodgers said.† “The change in our firm name is a reflection of our firm’s vision for growth and advancement.”

James P. “Jay” Barger joined the firm in 2002, was named a partner in 2006 and is the firm’s family law specialist.† G. Christopher Holder joined the firm in 2004 and was named a partner a year ago.† He specializes in criminal defense, construction and lien law, and collections.† J. D. Kious joined the firm in 2005 and specializes in business law, estate planning and real estate.

“With their assistance, the firm John and I started 12 years ago has been able to fulfill its mission of being a full service law firm for Rutherford County, providing exceptional service through sound legal advice and professional, experienced representation,” David Kious noted.† “And by adding Jay, Chris and J.D. to our firm name, we want to recognize their contribution to our firm and make known our comprehensive practice, spanning the full spectrum of today’s legal environment.”

Kious points out that the firm is not looking at restraining its growth anytime soon. “New developments and growth opportunities are on the horizon, and we are poised to take advantage of them.”
