Q: My child’s father now has a substantially higher income than when his child support obligation was originally set, should he be paying more child support?

A: Probably so. If a parent’s earnings have increase or decrease by 15% since your court order, there is a good chance that an adjustment is warranted. Each parent is required to provide to the other their tax information each year and you should request these documents while you are completing your own tax return. Once you have his W2, a simple telephone call and quick calculation can determine if your case is a candidate for modification.
